Jerome McGrath (Toronto); Rina Grosman (Toronto)

Enter and explore this man-made forest of string, interwoven around thousands of nails along a 40-foot long plastic corridor. The sounds of the forest are also present, familiar but manufactured.

Artists Rina Grosman and Jerome McGrath offer Torontonians a sight and sound portal to the past, to recall the trees we have lost in the name of urban growth.

The installation allows visitors to be immersed in a forest in downtown Toronto, only to exit and find themselves in the city again. The Lost and Found Forest clearly does not restore a single tree to the Toronto landscape, but for one night recreates and remembers our intangible relationship with nature.
